Tiltfactor is a socially conscious game developer that consistently produces cutting edge content. I was asked to create concept art for the upcoming game “Monarch”. One of the key challenges was creating a strong yet vulnerable multicultural princess that young girls would relate to. Several different princess models were created and tested in focus groups, which meant that each image had to be designed with the utmost flexibility in mind.
Below are several motif pages I made for each suit. I find that establishing simple guidelines upfront goes a long way in anchoring the visual identity of a large group. This in turn ensures that the style does not “drift” over the course of the project. More importantly, it keeps each group separate and well defined.
